NATIVE HUB'EAU API

TSN — Soil < Groundwater Transfer

Analytical Tier 1 assessment of the impact of a contaminated site (SSP) on drinking water abstraction targets, wells and boreholes. Domenico 1987 model, native Hub'eau API, IOTA R.214-1 compliance, isodistance mapping 500 to 3000 m. 30 minutes where MODFLOW requires several weeks.

International availability — automatic retrieval of geological and piezometric data (BRGM, Hub'Eau) covers France. For a project located in another country, these parameters must be entered manually by the user; per-country automation of this retrieval is under development.

Overview

TSN — rapid assessment of the impact on drinking water abstraction targets

An analytical Domenico 1987 solution connected to the public Hub'eau APIs to automatically identify wells, boreholes and abstraction points within the analysis radius.

Domenico 1987 model

Analytical solution for the downstream concentration Cc(x) of a plume, with no mesh: a point source, a handful of physical parameters (K, n, dispersivity, gradient).

Native Hub'eau API

Automatic retrieval of wells, boreholes and quality monitoring stations (eaufrance.fr) located within the analysis radius around the source.

Lambert 93 ↔ WGS84

Lambert 93 (EPSG:2154) coordinates per target with proj4 conversion to WGS84 for mapping.

Drinking water targets

Private wells, drinking water abstraction boreholes and priority abstraction points automatically positioned and ranked by criticality.

Features

Mapping and report ready for the regulatory file

Isodistance mapping

Source at the centre, isodistance circles at 500 / 1000 / 1500 / 2000 / 2500 / 3000 m, adaptive scale and legend integrated into the PDF report.

Criticality markers

Targets colour-coded by criticality (high / medium / low) based on the estimated downstream concentration and distance.

Wind rose & azimuth

Flow azimuth arrow and wind rose to visualise the direction of plume transfer towards the targets.

IOTA R.214-1 logic

Strict IOTA framework (Article R.214-1 of the French Environmental Code) applied natively to produce a compliant file.

Comparison

TSN vs MODFLOW vs MARTHE

Applications

What is it used for?

Typical use cases

  • Impact of an SSP site on a drinking water abstraction point — rapid assessment of an abstraction point located 500-3000 m from the source.
  • Reuse of excavated soils — assessment of the transfer to groundwater before reuse.
  • ESO (groundwater) impact study for a classified facility (ICPE) — risk screening for a classified installation project.
  • Water Act file (IOTA R.214-1) — justification of the impact on groundwater.
  • Complementary "Tier 1" tool — decision support before a heavy numerical model (MODFLOW / MARTHE).
